What Is The Procedure Text?

Procedure text is a text that contains about how to make or use something that is accompanied in various stages.  Usually, this text begins with the sentence "how to..."

Social Function

Procedure text has several social functions

including to provide information/instructions on how to achieve results efficiently, avoiding accidents, damage, wastage, etc

Text Structure

In making a procedure text, there is a structure that need be considered, namely:

- Aim 

In procedure text, the aim has been stated in the title or headline. Example : How To Make a  Delicious Cheesecake.

 - Materials

Contains a list of the materials needed in the procedure text along with the steps.

 - Steps 

Contains about how to make or instructions in making or using something.

- Result

Contains the results of the steps that have been carried out.

Procedure Text Features

Similar to other texts, procedure text have several characteristics, including:

- Using imperative sentences;

- There are guidelines to be followed;

- Using active verbs;

- Using conjunctions (connective words);

- There are rules in terms of materials or activities;

- Using adverbs to express details of time, place and manner;

- There are contents of activities carried out in sequence.

Linguistic Elements

- Grammar: imperative, negative and positive entences

- Phrases and vocabulary commonly used in manuals and tips

- Singular and plural nouns with or without a, the, this, those, my, their, etc.

- Speech, stress, intonation, spelling, sign reading and handwriting.

1. Cut cardboard with different sizes

2. Cut the wrapping paper, then paste on paper use double tip

3. Glue the cardboard pieces which has been pasted with gift paper using glue
