NARRATIVE TEXT PART 1 :
What Is The Narrative Text?
Narrative text is an essay that presents a series of events and is arranged chronologically according to the order of time. In narrative texts, the events written can actually happen or are imaginary.
What Is The Function Of Narrative Text?
Narrative text aims to entertain the reader.
Characteristics of Narrative Text
1. Contains stories, stories, and certain events. The text is written in a narrative style.
2. Have a clear plot from the beginning to the end of the story.
3. There is an event or conflict.
4. There are forming elements such as theme, setting, plot, character, and point of view.
Narrative Text Structure
1. Orientation
The orientation contains the time, place, character, and character of each character and what is happening.
2. Complications
In this section, the author tells about important events, causes, and triggers that lead to conflict between characters.
3. Resolution
In this section, the conflict decreases and can be resolved.
4. Reorientation
This section contains a closing text that contains the moral message of the story. This stage is not mandatory in a narrative text.
A Crane and A Dog
One day there was a dog going to look for food to a river, sometimes there was food and sometimes there wasn't. The dog uses its eyes, ears and smell to find food. Until when he was walking the dog smelled a fishy smell, he thought it was fish. Then he walked in the direction the smell was.
However, when he was in the place of the smell, he did not find the fish on the ground or near the river water. When he looked up he saw that there was a stork perched on a tree, he was holding a fish in its big beak.
then the dog said “Hey Stork, come down. Give the fish to me."
Then swiftly the stork came down from the tree and said to the dog "This fish is only one and small, if I share it with you I can't be full".
"Come on, I'm very hungry at this time, later instead of you tomorrow I'll take you to my house for a good meal" replied the dog.
Finally the stork also distributed the fish to the dog. And the dog ate the fish voraciously.
"Thank you stork, you are indeed good". said the dog. "Tomorrow don't forget you stop by my house at 12 noon, I want to invite you to eat together".
The stork also agreed to the dog's invitation. the next day when he arrived at the dog's house, the stork smelled a very seductive smell.
“Eat this delicious soup. Eat until you're full!," said the Dog.
But, unfortunately the soup was served on a plate. The crane's long beak could not reach the plate. When the dog has finished its food first. while the Stork had not eaten anything.
"Are you full or don't you want to eat the crane? Here! Let me spend it. "Said the Dog. the dog finished the stork's food, finally the stork went home with an empty stomach and hungry.
The stork arrived home, he was disappointed with the dog who had the heart to starve him. the crane thought and intended to avenge the behavior of the dog. the next day the stork saw the dog on the bank of the river, he immediately approached him.
"Hey dog, tomorrow is my birthday, I want to invite you to eat at my house, do you want?". asked the stork.
"Want, want," said the dog.
Finally the dog ate with the stork. but the stork provided food for the dog in a bamboo dish, and this the dog could not eat because his mouth could not reach it.
When the stork ate voraciously, the dog didn't even eat anything.
the stork asked "hey dog why don't you eat?".
"I can't eat if the container is a bamboo plate like this, my mouth can't reach it". answered the dog.
then the stork said “Finally you realized dog, yesterday you also made me unable to eat because you put the food in a place where my beak couldn't reach it. And this is what I'm replying to on purpose."
And the words of the crane made the dog sad and disappointed, then the dog went home with an empty stomach.
